Prepaid Calling Card System
The system provides prepaid national and international calling services for the customers through a carrier grade service platform. As shown in Figure A below, the service platform is de-localized in three different locations, each of which has its own geographical coverage and different capacity to insure maximum service availability.
The system is based on the Intel – Dialogic High Density Telecom Boards and it is designed as multi service, open architecture platform allowing easy integration with multiple operators and multiple signaling protocols at the same time. In addition, service integration and design is very flexible which enhanced the time to market and the system expandability.
The current system architecture is as follows:
Riyadh : Number of E1’s: 80, Calls Capacity: 2,400 Simultaneous Calls, Average Daily Hits: 661,000
Jeddah : Number of E1’s: 80, Calls Capacity: 2,400 Simultaneous Calls, Average Daily Hits: 710,000
Khobar: Number of E1’s: 40, Calls Capacity: 1,200 Simultaneous Calls, Average Daily Hits: 350,000
Premium Rate Calling
As part of the value added services provided for STC’s Mobile customers as well as Land Line Subscribers, the system is based on Intel-Dialogic Technology and has a density of 100 E1 Trunks interconnected with all major Switching Offices around the kingdom. The platform is number one in the kingdom considering the calls volume and serve primarily Media bodies (Saudi TV, Showtime, MBC, ART). Fast time to market, integration with the WEB, SMS, and flexible service designs to meet customers’ needs were key elements in this service success. During the month of Ramadan, the system Proved high availability, resiliency and easy expandability when counting more than 1,500,000 minutes/day for various services.
