Flyway in Saudi Arabia: editions, licensing and local support
Flyway is Redgate's database change management tool. It keeps every schema change as a versioned migration, applies it through your pipeline and records what ran. Interkey implements Flyway for organisations in Saudi Arabia, from Riyadh, in Arabic and English. This page sets out the two editions, how licensing is handled and who supports what, so you can decide before you ask for a quote.
In short
- What it is: Redgate's database change management tool. Schema changes are written as versioned migrations, mostly plain SQL, and applied in order through a pipeline.
- Editions: Flyway Community, which Redgate describes as free and for individual developers and education, and Flyway Enterprise, for large teams, regulated industries and complex estates.
- Platforms: Redgate states support for more than 60 database platforms, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Licensing: on Redgate's terms. Interkey quotes it beside its implementation work. This page states no prices.
- Local support: Interkey's engineers in Riyadh implement Flyway and, where wanted, operate the pipeline. Redgate provides product support under the licence.
What Flyway does
Flyway keeps a history table in each database, named flyway_schema_history by default. When it runs, it scans for migrations, compares them with that table and applies the pending ones in version order, updating the table as it goes. Redgate's documentation says migrations can be written in SQL, Java or other scripting languages, and that Flyway can be run from the command line, Docker, Maven, Gradle, an API or Flyway Desktop.

For platforms including MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server, Flyway can also capture the state of objects and reference data as a schema model that is committed to version control. Redgate lists GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Bitbucket Pipelines and AWS CodePipeline among the tools it runs in.
Interkey treats Flyway as one step of the database DevOps practice, which decides the order of work. If your first question is what version control for a database means, start with database version control.
Flyway editions: what each one lists

Redgate describes the advanced capabilities as covering platforms including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Databricks and their cloud variants, with foundational support for the rest. Which edition do you need?
- One team, simple environments, no auditor asking about each change. Community may be enough. Redgate describes it as for individual developers and education, so whether your use qualifies is a question for Redgate's licence terms, not for this page.
- Several teams or environments, and rules that must apply to every change. Policy-as-code, drift detection and change history are the Enterprise features aimed at that problem.
- Generated undo scripts. These are listed for Enterprise. An undo that has never been run is still only a plan, so exercise it in a lower environment.
- A SQL Server estate that also needs comparison and monitoring. Redgate's SQL Server toolset covers that; see Redgate implementation and SQL Server monitoring with Redgate Monitor.
How Flyway licensing works in Saudi Arabia
Flyway is licensed by Redgate Software, and the licence agreement and current terms are Redgate's. Interkey does not restate prices or terms on this page. In an engagement, Redgate licensing is quoted at the vendor's terms beside Interkey's implementation, so one proposal shows both, and the implementation is scoped per programme.
Redgate also offers a free trial of Flyway Enterprise (its page offered 28 days when we read it), so a pilot can start before any licence is bought. Tell us the platforms, the number of teams and how changes reach production today, and we will say which edition the evidence points to.
Local support: who does what
| Area | Redgate | Interkey |
|---|---|---|
| Product and licence | Makes Flyway and sets the editions, licence terms and support plans | Quotes the licence at Redgate's terms beside the implementation |
| Documentation and training | Product documentation, Redgate University and a sample project for learning | Hands over written standards and a rehearsed rollback, so the team can run the practice |
| Putting Flyway into your pipeline | Lists professional services for guided installs and configuration | Engineers in Riyadh capture the baseline, wire Flyway into the pipeline, set the checks and rework the change patterns |
| After go-live | Product support under the licence | Operates the pipeline as a managed service where wanted, in Arabic and English |
Redgate is a technology partner: the tooling is Redgate's, and the work of putting a database estate under version control and automating its deployment is done by Interkey's own engineers.
A first step: a pilot on one schema
-
Pick one schema.
Choose one that changes often and hurts when a deployment fails.
-
Capture the baseline.
Record production as version one, compare each environment to it and rule on the differences.
-
Wire Flyway into the pipeline.
Start in a lower environment, using the delivery pipeline the application already has.
-
Prove the rollback.
Run the reverse of a change in a lower environment before the forward change reaches production.
-
Choose the edition.
Decide between Community and Enterprise from what the pilot showed, using Redgate's trial where it helps.
What Flyway does not do
Flyway applies whatever migration it is given, safe or not. Safe change patterns remain engineering work, whichever edition you buy. The baseline and pipeline wiring are a matter of weeks; reworking the change patterns is the long part.
Questions buyers ask
Is Flyway free?
Redgate describes Flyway Community as free, for individual developers and education. Flyway Enterprise is the paid edition for large teams and regulated industries. Prices and licence terms are Redgate's, so we give none here.
Which databases does Flyway support?
Redgate states support for more than 60 database platforms, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL. Which capabilities apply to which platform and edition changes over time, so we check Redgate's current documentation when we scope.
Do we need Flyway Enterprise?
That depends on whether you must apply the same checks to every change, detect drift, generate undo scripts or keep a change history for audit. If you do not, Community may be enough, subject to Redgate's licence terms.
Who supports Flyway in Saudi Arabia?
Redgate provides product support under the licence. Interkey implements Flyway from Riyadh and, where wanted, operates the pipeline under a written managed-services scope, in Arabic and English.
Can we try Flyway before buying?
Redgate offers a free trial of Flyway Enterprise, and Flyway Community is free to download. We usually start with a pilot on one schema, so the choice of edition rests on evidence from your own estate.
